The authorities in Kashmir have started to demolish all the structures along the banks of rivers in Kashmir instantly after the devastating September 2014 floods. The structures also include the houses of Kashmir’s traditional Hanji(Fishermen)community, on the banks of Jhelum river, who have not been provided the alternate spaces rendering all of them homeless. Hanji community has been reduced to the most backward section of society in Kashmir. A report by Nadiya Shafi from Srinagar.
