On this World Peace and Understanding Day, Our Community Correspondent brings to you an unique example of Brotherhood from a remote village of Kashmir.

In a glaring example of communal harmony between Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits of the Kashmir, Muslims performed the last rites of Janki Nath (84) who along with his wife, Rani have been living with a Kashmiri Muslim Family from last 10 years.

In 1990, at the time when Kashmiri Pandits (Hindus) left Kashmir valley in the outbreak of Militancy against the Indian State , this couple decided to stay back with their Kashmiri brethren and had no regrets at their decision.

Janki Nath and his wife Rani, have been the only Pandit couple living in the village of Malwan Kulgam among 5000 Muslims. On January 30, Janki Nath died and his cremation was arranged by the locals.

Rani, the wife of deceased has a strong faith in her decision to continue her life in a Muslim family on wards.
