Kawapora village of Bandipore district is suffering due to the negligible availability of electricity. The inhabitants of this village are compelled to stay under darkness in the evening time and kids have to abandon studies as it becomes difficult to study under the candle light. Around 400 households have been provided a single transformer which most of the times develops snags due to overload. This not only affects the population on the whole but the small industries like Bend-saw operators can’t work due to the low voltage, which affects the economy of this area as well.
