‘Waatan Gaer’ The Bone and Joint Healers of Kashmir

These are the indigenous specialists who have never been to any medical college but are able to treat many orthopedic problems effectively. People from across the Kashmir valley flock such specialists to get the treatments done when the hospitals don’t prove out of any help. These professionals are called as ‘Waatan Gaer’ in local parlance and these healers have inherited such method of treatment from their forefathers. Nadiya Shafi reports.
