In village Mala Buchan, Pattan water supply scheme has been distributed in late 80’s. But since 2012 they do not get safe drinking water and authorities are paying deaf ears to their plea. Official documents reveal that it is not possible to retrieve or repair the pipeline. The locals of this village have approached State Human Rights Commission to get the water problem resolved at an earliest. As of now no directives have come from State Human Rights Commission. The village has a population of 1000 souls and right now people fetch water from a nearby stream called as Ferozpora Nalla, the water is contaminated.

“Since 2012 people of Mala Bachun are demanding new water scheme or water connection from any existing scheme. In the same year they were assured that they will be provided new water scheme in Chichilora but till now they did not get it. They have approached concerned authorities and Ministers as well but to no avail. Finally they moved to State Human Rights Commission with a hope to get safe drinking water which is the basic right of every human being”‘ says Irfan, Social Activist.
