Budgam Wood Carver Made Creative Art Out of Traditional Work

Ali Mohammad Najar, a 47 year old carpenter lives at Shunglipora which is 45 Kms away from the town of Budgam in central Kashmir. He is known for carving wood designs and making decorative pieces. He is specialized in making wooden utensils. Having been born in a carpenter family, he continued his work and made a creative art out of the traditional work. Ali Mohammad lives in poverty, with 6 daughters and 1 son who also is in this art.

“I want to expand my work and teach this art form to other interested person. I want to start a training center and for that I need a good amount. I want government to help me in starting a center in my village”, says Ali Mohammad Najar.
