The residents of Waterhail area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district are aghast over the failure of successive regimes to establish a promised degree college in the area. The Government had announced about Waterhail, Budgam to be allotted a Degree College on 28 February but till date, nothing has been done.
Higher education department recently sanctioned fifty new degree colleges in Kashmir valley, but this village has been again ignored. The village is a far-flung area and deserves a degree college but unfortunately, the authorities have so far failed to do so and have neglected the area.
“Children of our village are being forced to cover long distances to reach their colleges in Srinagar or Budgam as at present there is no degree college in our area”, Ghulam Ahmad, a local resident.
