In Shopian village of Manihal Batpora which is located at a distance of just 12 Kms from district HQ is denied safe drinking water. Pipes were installed by the PHE department, but water never flew in them. People are forced to drink contaminated water and leads to birth of multiple diseases. This village has population of around 1041 with 171 household as per census 2011.
Ishafaq Ahmad, a local resident says, “We are facing water shortage from last 30 years. Although Government has started water scheme but due to lethargic approach of Public Health Engineering Department water was never supplied”.
