Sedow village of Shopian district has not seen electricity since 3rd November 2018 when Kashmir received its first snow fall of the season. This village is just 8 Kms away from district headquarters and is without electricity over a month.
The village has got electricity under the program Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikara Yojana (RGGVY) in 2012 and under this scheme Meters were also installed in the said village but after a year these meters were made non-functional by Power Development Department. Locals have many times asked the authorities to make them functional but to no avail.
Now since the winter approached, the village is in utter darkness . Village residents appeal Power Development Department to solve this issue once for all.
