In village Singdona Kupwara an ‘Irrigation Storage Reservoir’ was constructed by Irrigation department in the village some 50 years back. The reservoir was constructed on 24 kanal land in order to irrigate 102 Kanals of agricultural land.
So far the department has done nothing for its maintenance nor any one is looking after it. Locals with time have started encroachment over it and now the reservoir has been reduced to 14-15 kanals. Farmers are worried because they did not get enough water for their agricultural land as the reservoir cannot store water as per requirements due to reduction in size.
