On July 2, four people lost their lives while cleaning the only well in the area of Singdun village located in Kralpora Tehsil of Kupwara district. The village with around 2000 people lacks a proper drinking water facility. Although there is a water source only half kilometre away from the village, but the administration is yet to make any proposal on it and supply the water to the inhabitants. In 2018 the department made a project of Rs. 45 lakhs, but there was no further development. According to the family members, the administration didn’t act in time to save four lives by delaying the rescue operation. The Locals are aghast at the reluctant attitude of administration in resolving the water crisis.
