ASHA community workers have been at the forefront during the ongoing pandemic across India. Accredited Social Health Activist, is a community health worker instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as a part of India’s National Rural Health Mission. After the spread of the COVID19 disease, these health workers were given several assignments to collect data, do door-to-door surveys, and facilitate home quarantine for the patients. This profession is one of the underpaid jobs in India and lost their lives in the line of duty. Working on a mere amount of 2000 INR. One of the ASHA workers died while performing her duties last month in Baramula after getting infected by the virus.
