Kashmiri Widow’s 22-Year Wait For Justice!

Munawara’s husband was picked up by the Border Security Force (BSF) along with few other youths after the crackdown in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on On 7 April 1993. Two of them were taken inside a cow shed and killed from point blank range while the BSF claimed that the youth died in a brief gunfight.

Before the family could file an FIR into the whole incident, the BSF had already filed one, claiming to have recovered the arms and ammunition from the deceased but till date the BSF hasn’t been able to produce the same in the court.

This Ground Report is part of a series of videos produced for the International Peoples Tribunal on Human Rights and Justice in Indian-Administered Kashmir (IPTK) and Association of Parents of Disappeared persons (APDP) to accompany their report, “Structures of Violence: the Indian State in Jammu and Kashmir” which identifies the structures, forms and tactics of violence of the Indian State in Jammu and Kashmir.
