The ongoing uprising since last more than 50 days in Kashmir has led to the closure of schools, business establishments, and other government offices. With the result, around 1.5 million students in the valley have been unable to attend the regular schools. Now the educated youths of the valley have been contributing their time and teaching thousands of these school going kids in community schools which have been named as ‘Curfew Schools’. Such schools have been established in mosques, community halls, homes of local residents where the tuitions are being provided free of cost. On this Teacher’s Day, our correspondent, Shafat Mir, brings us the story of these heroes from his community.
