Written by KashmirUnheard

A youth was killed and two other persons were injured in a mysterious blast at Tosamaidan meadow in Khag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on 12 August 2018 when people were celebrating Jashn-e-Tosamaidan, a day when Indian Army vacated the Tosamaidan meadow after 54 Years. The army has been using this place for artillery and firing /training purposes and had killed more than 80 people and injuring hundreds.
The local activists launched a campaign in 2014 and demanded that the lease agreement may be ended. Later due to this social movement pressure, the lease was not granted to the army and operation was also carried out by the army under the name ‘Al Falah’ to locate unexploded shells and destroy them in order to ensure that no further human loss takes place in future.

An explosion occurred at Tosamaidan meadow area, in the incident, three persons suffered injuries. They were taken to nearby Primary Health Centre from where doctors referred them to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.
