Aijaz is a transgender activist based in Kashmir.
In a recent move by the J&K Administrative Council in May 2019, Transgenders who did not qualify for financial benefits under Jammu Kashmir Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) will now be given monthly financial assistance of Rs.1000.
The Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu, accorded sanction to the extension of coverage of J&K Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) to transgenders, by including them as beneficiaries under the Scheme.
In 2017, Aijaz Ahmad published a book, Hijras of Kashmir – A Marginalized Form of Personhood.
