Abdul Majeed’s Love for Reviving the Dying Art of Shawl Making in Kashmir

Ab Majeed Shah of Pulwama, Kashmir has been making shawls for 40 years. The art of making shawls is centuries old and finds its roots in the coming of Islam to Kashmir during the 13th century. The Shawl making has been witnessing decline in the past few decades with the artists being paid very less wages and the introduction of machine made Shawls. Abdul Majeed is trying to revive the art and trying to inculcate the art in future generations.
