Non Availability of Drinking Water Increases the Number of Girl School Dropouts in Kupwara

Khadibal hamlet of Hangnikote Village is at a distance of 30 Km’s from district Headquarters Kupwara. Due to the non-availability of drinking water supply in the village, a population of approximately 500 facing severe issues with women and girls of this village facing a crisis. In the recent past, about 60 young girls had to quit studies in order to be available at home to fetch water. People drink contaminated water from a nearby stream. The village is surrounded by forest and there is the threat of wild animals as well.
