Meet Masrat Jan – Fighting Stereotypes to Earn a Name in the Art of Paier Mache

Papier-Mache is considered to be male dominated craft but Masrat jan from Lal Bazar area of Srinagar is doing this art from decades.She has not only earned her name in this art by winning several state level awards but she is also reviving this art by training other women. Fighting with stereotypes and challenges, Masrat is an example for other women artists of the valley.
