Illegal Mining Rampant, Threatening Environment in District Reasi Despite Citizen Complaints

Illegal mining continues unchecked in various blocks across District Reasi, as responsible citizens from the district allege that authorities are turning a blind eye to the grievances lodged by locals to curb this menace. The illegal miners are accused of plundering natural resources and posing a threat to lives by using heavy machinery to dig deeper into the earth.

Tragically, last year, a five-year-old boy lost his life after slipping into a trench dug by these miners. The parent of the deceased child stated, “They are using heavy machinery and digging deeper, which poses life-threatening risks.” Although authorities have taken some steps, illegal mining remains rampant in the area. Speaking to a correspondent, a political activist demanded compensation for the deceased child.
