Hajibal village located at a distance of 14 kms from Baramula town is surrounded by small hills and forests – the village has been witnessing landslides in a frequent basis and people have been bearing the brunt. The houses could be seen damaged due to landslides. Not only the house walls have developed cracks but roads and agricultural land also has been facing landslides.
In Hajibal village total 95 families are residing. The village has population of 609 as per Population Census 2011. Landslides are directly effecting the entire population. “We built our houses but they get damaged due to landslides. Whenever it rains or snows here, landslide occurs. This is a big problem nowadays that we are facing,” says Zareena Begum, a local resident.
