Women have been the worst sufferers of the decades old conflict in Kashmir. The number of rapes, molestation cases, enforced disappearances and the number of half-widows and orphans since late nineties is a grim example of how women of this valley are suffering. The violence has badly affected them physically, psychologically, socially and economically, a fact hidden from none.
Now a new wave of acid attacks on women has put the security of women-folk in jeopardy. The response on part of the government has mostly been indifferent towards the issue.
