In 1995, Police in Kashmir Demanded One Lac Bribe For Lodging a Missing report

Nazir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Chicharpora village in the outskirts of Anantnag district had gone missing way back in 1995. Nazir worked at a Baker’s shop few kilometers away from his home. He used to leave for work before dawn everyday and return home in the evening. His father, Ali Mohammed Dar, was unable to register a missing report in the concerned police station as the Station House Officer had demanded a bribe of one lac rupees for lodging an FIR. Since more than a two decades, Nazir still remains untraced. A report by Shafat Mir.
