Government is Killing Creativity – Kashmir’s Young Scientist Lacks Support

Mohammad Touseef Thokar a 10th class student of Govt Higher Secondary School Nihama Kulgam received National IGNITE Award in 2015. Touseef came up with an idea “Pebble indicating system for cooking vessel”. Touseef hails from remote Kashmiri village Bagbal Khuri Batpora of Kulgam district. He was awarded in 2015 by Indian President, Pranab Mukherjee at an event in New Delhi. Tauseef has undergone multiple surgeries after he met an accident. Belonging to a poor family the father of Tauseef sold his land to pay for his surgeries. State Government has not given any scholarship or any financial assistance to Touseef so far.
