Hit by Pellets, the Family of Victim Demands Compensation

On 30 September 2016, Muzamil Nazir Bhat, 19 year old youth from Narkara Budgam was hit by pellets fired upon him by security forces. As per Muzamil, he had gone to market to buy some medicines and was targeted by forces without any reason. Muzamil has undergone surgery and has lost eyesight in his left eye. The family of Muzamil demands that compensation be given to him and he should be rehabilitated by the J&K Government.

The Supreme Court of India in its recent order has asked the Centre to come up with alternatives to pellet guns used by security forces against agitators and stone-pelting mobs on the streets of Jammu and Kashmir.
