Flood victims of Sheikh Colony in Reshipora village of Pulwama district have been waiting for the compensation for the past 4 years. Reshipora Pulwama, was washed away by floods in 2014 – around 200 families lost their homes. But seven families of Sheikh colony of this village were not paid any relief by the Govt after the rehab work was taken up by the state Govt. The people still live in tin sheds provided by an NGO.

Locals alleged that administration failed to disburse the rehabilitation amounts among the flood victims, despite Government of India releasing the package three years ago.

“We work as labourer and finds hard to make both ends meet. We are not in position to build the new houses while its hard to spent cold winter nights as well hot summer days in these tin sheds”, says Parvez Ahmed, resident of Sheikh community.
