Meet Shabir ‘Lefty’ – Class Cricketer, Now on Crossroads

Lately, Kashmir has been producing some rare talents, be it in the fields of education, entertainment, or sports. In South Kashmir’s Pulwama, 22-year-old Shabir Ahmed Nengroo from Prichoo village was selected for U23 Indian cricket team, Shabir is locally known as ‘Shabir lefty’ for his impressive left-handed batting skills. He has played also an International cricket match for Indian cricket team. Shabir was selected for U-23 Ranji cricket in 2017. In August, Shabir’s father died due to a heart attack and the responsibility of family came on his shoulders.

Shabir failed to receive any kind of support to continue his cricket career and can now be seen doing manual work in his neighbourhood.

Shabir has been made the brand ambassador of Kashmir Steel Rolling Mills for an indefinite period due to his talent and bad financial conditions. He has achieved many milestones and has become a role model and inspiration to the young guns who want to make it big on the field of sports.
