Absence of Irrigation Facilities Dries Up Apple Orchards In Shopian

Manloo and Karewa Shopian residents are facing problems due to the nonavailability of proper facilities to irrigate their drying up apple farms. People from the past 20 years are wandering from one office to another, requesting authorities to install a bore-well in the area. Consisting of 200 households the above said villagers said that their crop got damaged due to nonavailability of water.

We are unable to produce quality apples because we can not sprinkle pesticides or fertilisers in the absence of water. The size of our apple remains very little due to this our whole years work on fields proves futile exercise – One of the villagers said.
