Spreading Awareness on Forest Rights Act among Underprivileged Communities of Kashmir

An awareness camp was organised on Forest Rights Act by the J&K RTI Movement and Koshish organisation in which hundreds of people from the grazing community participated. The members of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs India also participated in the event and clarified the legalities of the Act, which is now applicable in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 1000 grazers belonging to the Chopan community take their flocks of cattle and sheep to the highlands of Pirpanchal mountains every summer.
